Gran Museo del Mundo Maya
Half of the permanent exhibition space of this museum is dedicated to the culture of the Maya and the other half houses artifacts. The museum has more in common with PeeWee's Big Adventure tour of the Alamo than it does with a important anthropology museum. The doors swung open for the change of the Baktun on 21 December 2012 and was the swans song of the governor . The website is useless but they do have a map. It's almost to the end of the prolongation de Montejo on the west side of the street. For the moment the old anthropology museum in Palacio Canton on Paseo Montejo at Calle 43 is still open and I'd recommend going there before visiting the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya.
